Dell to support Windows 8 Tablet

Dell and HP have announced their intentions to support Windows 8 tablets, although it'll be a while before they turn up: both firms have confirmed that their Windows 8 tablets will ship towards the mid to end  of 2012, just in time for the Christmas 2012 !

According to Dell boss Michael Dell, Android is a disappointment and Windows 8 is brilliant. At this month's Dell World event, he said that the Android market "has not developed to the expectations they would have had" and that "we are very aligned with Microsoft around Windows 8. You'll hear more about Windows 8 from us and see a wide range of products released," he told reporters.

But a Very late 2012 is a long time to wait - Android Ice Cream Sandwich will be well established, the Kindle Fire will have been on sale (or will it be in the UK),for the best part of a year, and there's a new iPad imminent but a new survey by the Boston Consulting Group will warn the cockles of Microsoft's heart: according to Forbes magazine, BCG found that the majority of consumers would rather have a tablet running iOS or Android. That, of course, is based on today's tablets and the assumption that Windows 8 will be excellent - so, no pressure there, Microsoft.
